Welcome on my website! On this page I will try to tell something about me, the way I see myself. One of my biggest things in life is - ofcourse - my accordion. I have played it since 1994 (I was 13 years old) and I’ve had several instruments since then. You can read all about them on my Instruments page. Since 1998 I have been very busy with the Bulgarian folkmusic. Together with Michiel Bakkes I have a duo especially for this music: Duo Izvor Besides Duo Izvor I play in 2 trios, both for (Balkan) folkmusic. Since 1999 I have played with Trediki, together with Okke Alkema and Michiel Bakkes. Every year we play on the Balkanfestival in Zetten, and most of the years on ‘DoeDans’. Further we work with several teachers. You can read all about us on our Trediki-website. The second trio is Dutch DIP, with clarinetist Linny van der Weijden. Dutch DIP goes mainly abroad, to play on festivals like the Eastbourne International Folk Festival and Gran Bal Trad in Italy. With my mum - Annelies - I play a lot, on all kinds of occasions, even on funerals. Together we play international folkmusic, but mainly European folkmusic. I play the accordion, and Annelies plays the violin and the gadulka (Bulgarian folk-string-instrument). We too have a website, we are called A+B=C-akkoord (A+B=C chord). The accordion is not only my hobby, it’s also my job. Since 1998 I work in ‘De Muse’. This is a combination of an accordion specialist shop, an accordionmuseum and a music cafe. At first I started as a volenteer in the museum, but by now I work there 4 days a week and do all sorts of things, selling, repairing, guiding, cleaning and so on. Ofcourse there are more things I like besides accordions. I like working on the computer, especially the internet, for instance YouTube, Panoramio, Marktplaats (like Ebay) and Google. Some of my favourite things to do are Google Earth (strongly recommended!), building websites, taking pictures, chatting with friends and play games like Rollercoaster Tycoon, The Incredible Machine and Settlers of Catan. Besides the computer I like embroidering mandalas, reading Donald Duck magazines and sometimes making glass paintings with Annelies. Further I have since 2009 a Wii game computer, which gives us lots of fun! My favourite holiday destinations are Switzerland and Bulgaria. Switzerland because of it’s beautiful mountains: nothing better than to be at the campside in Raron, on a 3000 meter-summit or in a cable railway! Bulgaria has got a place in my heart because of the folklore, the music, the people, the language and ofcourse all the friends I’ve got there.
