Other games? Okay,
if you are somewhat up-to-date you know there's a vast number of computer
games out there. While some are pretty cool, most are just average and
otthers are not released yet or may never be. For a non-professional who
likes to make maps it can get a little overwhelming to make a choice out
of the ever growing amount of new games. Add to that the fact it's getting
harder to make something of reasonable quality for one of the recent top
titles and you will understand the poor mapper's dilemma. From
a map-making point of view I only care for games that really spark my
interest and preferably have a solid fanbase. Which brings me to CounterStrike:Source.
Now there's a game with a fanbase. Although I do like the game in itself,
I don't care much for the online scene, in contrast with the Quake scene.
My short trip to MoH:AA (which in a way has the same play style as CS)
was an exception since I've always been sincerely fascinated by WW2 and
that game was the first to start the whole WW2-game hype. For me it just
made sense at the time to try my hand at that game. << back |
