1939

The remnant of Czechoslovakia was destroyed in 1939. Slovakia became independent and the Czech state was occupied and transferred into the “Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia”. In name it still had a government of its own. Poland was also attacked in that year and World War Two began. Poland was split up between Germany, the Soviet Union and Lithuania. Large parts of Poland were incorporated into Germany to facilitate more “Lebensraum” for the German people. The annexations went beyond the territories lost in 1919. In the rest a “General Government of Warsaw” was erected.
