Inspirations

Vincent van Gogh

The art and life of Vincent van Gogh is an ongoing inspiration in the life of liesbeth Johnson.

"In the fullness of artistic life there is, and remains, and will always come back at times, that homesick longing for the truly ideal life that can never come true."

(Vincent in letter to his brother Theo in 1988)

The tension between the real world and the surreal world is a source for imagery without any boundaries.

Salavador Dali is an incredible artist who has created an immense testament as a surrealist painter. There is an immense diversity in his works of art.

Friedensreich Hundertwasser

His ideal was a a peaceful living together of man and nature. Paradise still exists, but we are on our way to destroy it. Art has an obligation to give hope, to show a better way...

He said: "Only art can build a bridge between man and nature, between man and God. Art is not a bridge between man and man."

Like Hundertwasser Liesbeth Johnson sees the tree as a symbol of Nature which is endlessly struggling for survival.

Architecture should be in harmony with nature: the house has got trees on the roof, organic forms and every appartment is different!

Till the 19 th. february of 2000, when he died of heart-failure, he was an activist for Nature. Nothing more or less...
