IllusionIllusion is a J35c, hull #14, built by Tillotson Pearson (USA) in 1991 and designed by Rod Johnstone. Illusion spent her first years on the Great Lakes and was shipped to Holland in 1996. Since 2000 she had been a few years in the UK, untill we bought her in 2005 and sailed her from Southampton back to Holland. DimensionsLOA: 10.72m (LWL: 9.15m). Displacement: 5360kg (Ballast: 2045kg). Draft: 1.92m, Beam: 3.38m. Unlike the J 35, in a J35C there is real standing headroom for adults up to 6 feet tall. Lay out & specs Illusion has an spacious forecabin and a fine one aft. The combination of white and teak gives the salon a fresh "Herreshof"look. The galley has everything you want and is well laid out. The head is on the port side near the forecabin. On deck the running rigging and the main sheet lay out is a sailors choice. The J35c has Edson wheel steering and a complete grounding system in accordance with industry practice. Illusion has a custom cradle in order to stall her safely ashore during the wintertime. Engine Illusion is equiped with a 30 horsepower Westerbeke 30B diesel engine, specially engineered to operate in a hostile marine environment. It is designed and built using experience gained in supplying over 1,100 whaleboat engines to the United States Navy. Weighing in at only 274 pounds (124.3 kilos), the 30B Three provides a power to weight ratio to be envied while requiring modest engine room space. Have a look at the J35c drive train lay out and the fuel system. ABS certified All J35c's are certified by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) to its A1 Offshore yacht Standards. This means that a full-time inspector from the ABS-company was in the Tillotson-Pearson factory checking every construction, engineering, and electrical detail necessairy to assure each "J" meets or exceeds the ABS standards. Come aboard On board we have two little co-captains: Joep and Wieke ![]() And don't forget the sailors wife! ![]() |
