| JOSEPH PIERRE FRANÇOIS LOONTJENS (born Bruges, Belgium 19-03-1774, died Maastricht, The Netherlands) is in all probability the founder of the Maastricht branche of the Loontjens-family. According to family lore he was a roofer by profession and left Bruges for Maastricht in 1799. All the members of the family Loontjens who are mentioned on this site are his offspring. | ||
Of his own descendancy little is known. His father was PIETER LOONTJENS (born in 1752, died Bruges, October 1803) and his mother ISABELLA D'HOEST, born in 1751. Together they had eleven children. Of the preceding generations there is no trace left or rather: it is unknown whether the family tree has been traced further back in time. So between the Belgian and the Dutch family Loontjens there is a missing link. |

However, there might be a distant family member who has this infomation. Browsing through the Internet, it turnes out that the Belgian genealogical tree is partly researched, but the ancestors of the founding father of the Maastricht Loontjens, Joseph Pierre François Loontjens, have not been found yet. This site therefore is an endeavour to find the missing link to Belgium and to reconstruct the family tree further. |
