PRIME MINISTER OF HOLLAND SPOKE TO HEIR ABOUT MAXIMA ZORREGUIETA
The romance between the prince and the Argentinean
becomes more and more serious

The young person, 28 years old, is the daughter of a civil employee of the last military government. In the Dutch Parliament the engagement brought a lot of struggling yesterday. Some legislators showed their "restlessness" because of the past of her father.

The love of the prince and the young Argentinean are not only on the covers of all Dutch newspapers, it is also being discussed in the government and the Parliament. The heir to the Crown, Willem Alexander, met yesterday with prime minister, Wim Kok, to speak about his romance with Maxima Zorreguieta. At the same time, in the Parliament there were lengthy debates about the past of the politician, who is the father of the girl.

Some members of the Parliament showed their preoccupation by the union of the prince with the daughter of a civil employee of the last military government of Argentina. The father of Maxima, Jorge Zorreguieta, was secretary of Agriculture and Cattle ranch between 1976 and 1981. Also he was a member of the Rural Society and today he is the president of the Sugar Center.

Maxima, 28 years old, and Willem Alexander, 32, have met eachother recently in New York, where she works for the Deutsche Bank. Two weeks ago in Bariloche, the young woman chose to present/display to her parents her new fiancee, although the pair still did not speak of marriage. For the Dutch the meeting of yesterday between the prince and prime minister was "very significant", because according to the Constitution of that country, the heir to the Crown must inform to the government on his plans of marriage.

Eef Brouwers, spokesman of the royal house, confirmed the encounter with an official notice: "the prince spoke with the prime minister about his friendship with Miss Maxima Zorreguieta, of Argentine nationality. More details will not be made public. It is a private and personal matter".
But in the Parliament, the deputies dedicated great part of the day to discussing the subject: the left parties demanded Maxima to say she disagrees with the military dictatorship, whereas most moderate parties defended the young person.

When acceding to the throne, the prince will become Chief of State, and his wife, as he reigns, will have a very important position. "If he dies, she will occupy the headquarters of State. For that reason she must be clear before it is democratic from the feet to the head", shot the socialist deputy Jan Marijnissen.
"It is incredible that the royal house has something to do with a killer regime responsible for the death for thousands of people", Mies Bouhuys said, to the front of a grouping of Human rights activists that supports the Mothers of Seat of May.

Deputies of the opposition of the parties Green and Socialist gave lengthy speeches, in which they expressed their "restlessness" because of this relationship.

Also there were some who supported the tall, blond girl, who was born in Recoleta and studied in the Northlands, at an English school. "a woman of 28 years can not be held responsible for the conduct of her father 20 years ago", maintained Peter Rehwinkel, of the Labour Party.
"You cannot not even imagine the commotion that the engagement caused in Holland. All the newspapers, the magazines and the television channels speak about them", a Dutch journalist, who traveled especially to Buenos Aires to take care of the subject, told Bugler yesterday.

Perhaps to escape the press, Jorge Zorreguieta and his wife, Maria of the Carmen Cerruti, left the appartment that they occupy in the street Uriburu 1252 and went on vacation to the south a couple of days ago.
In front of the appartment that Maxima occupies in New York, journalists crowded yesterday to know who is the Buenosairean that it enamored more to the unmarried one coveted with Holland. By the electrical doorman one inquired that "Maxima is of trip".

In the mailbox of 2` W her name is written next to the one of Mr. Zimmerman. According to the neighbors, this man was the fiancee of Maxima untill she met and fell for the prince.

Wednesday 01 of September of 1999
THE ARGENTINEAN WHO LOVES THE PRINCE, IS also the
DAUGHTER OF a CIVIL EMPLOYEE Of the LAST MILITARY GOVERNMENT

Maxima Zorreguieta is the new fiancee/very close friend of the heir to the throne of Holland. Yesterday, the media of that country spread a different last name. Dutch groups of left question the past of the father of the girl

She is contiguous, slim, blond, very intelligent and very likeable. She is the Argentine girl who managed to love Willem Alexander, the coveted inheriting prince of Holland. And while in Buenos Aires their friends festejan the surrounded romance still in rumors, in Amsterdam already protests of left groups can be heard, that do not seem to be willing to allow a member of the royal family to marry with the daughter of a civil employee of the last military government.

Maxima Zorreguieta is the Buenosairean that managed to love and be loved by a prince and not Maxima Herzog, as was the rumor yesterday. The confusion with the last name came from the Dutch newspapers, that showed photos of the fiancee with the wrong name.

Maxima is the daughter of Jorge Zorreguieta. She was only six years old and had many freckles when her father was named undersecretary of Agriculture. That was in 1976 under the leadership of Jorge Rafael Videla and Jose Alfredo Martinez de Hoz. The man, who before had been secretary of the Rural Society Argentina, passed to be secretary of Agriculture and Cattle ranch in 1979, a position that he occupied until the 1981. Today, 71 years old, he is the president of the Sugar Center.

These data are those that worry the groups on the left political scale. The parliament has to be asked permission for the marriage. A marriage which they might not authorize when the woman is the daughter of a man "who participated in a killer regime". These protests were counted by numerous Dutch journalists who communicated them yesterday to Bugler to averig5uar on the past of the civil employee.

In Holland there are numerous defending associations of the human rights, and several of them supported the fight of the Mothers of Seat of May. Many today still they remember when in World-wide of Soccer 78 the selection of the rower orange, that lost the end against the Argentineans, one refused to receive the medals out of the hands of general Videla.

But to prince Willem Alexander, 31 years old, this past seems to be of any concern to him. For that reason he did not doubt in going to esquiar with Maxima to Bariloche only two weeks ago. There, the young woman would have presented/displayed her parents to him: Jorge Zorriagueta and Maria of the Carmen Cerruti.

The fiancees have been in the south between the 13 and the 17 of August. Two guards and one secretary came along. Maxima, extended, was presented/displayed as a translator.

According to Bugler sources, the Police and the Gendarmerie, the group was received in the airport by a person who took them to a house of Villa Cathedral, which belonged to a friend of the Zorreguieta family.

They rented 3 cars with which they crossed different tourist circuits of the Park Nacional Nahuel Huapi, and Willem Alexander did not have the desire to eat typical roasted a Creole one. The group did not request security safekeeping.

Third of five brothers, Maxima was born in an elegant department of Parera and Alvear, in the Recoleta. But she went to a bilingual school of Olive trees, the Northlands College. Her companions remember her like "the tallest, intelligent and very simple" girl. She left in 1988, and later she traveled to the United States, to study Economy in Boston. Later, a position at the bank of New York made her move to "the Big Apple", where apparently she knew the prince.

Yesterday, although Willem - who will become King in less than five years - refused to speak about the subject, close friends to the family confirmed the romance of him to the Dutch television. On the other hand, the spokesman of the royal house said to Bugler that "at the moment we do not have anything to say on the subject, we are only authorized to publish information if it is an official relationship; but this one is not." Nevertheless, the Dutch newspapers assured yesterday that the prime minister, Wim Kok, had requested to talk to the prince about his new fiancee.

Last night, in Buenos Aires, after participating in a meeting in the Union of Argentine Industrialists, Zorreguieta returned to his appartment in Uriburu 1252, but he preferred not to speak with the cronistas that waited in front of the door. Earlier, his wife had also refused to talk to the press. But she offered to Bugler a telephone number where to find out about the romance: it was of the Information service of the Government of Holland.
